In all my years of driving an EV I've never have to use the Nissan-supplied EVSE

Has anyone actually used the Nissan-supplied EVSE, assuming you’ve got one installed at home? This thing is a total brick! Does anyone actually carry it around? In all my years of driving an EV, I’ve never had to use it, though I’ve taken it out of the car just to give my muscles a workout. Some manufacturers don’t even include them anymore. Curious to hear if anyone actually bothers with it

Yes, we use it as our primary EVSE with an nema 14-50 plug in our garage. Works great and as you can see.charging status in the app (for both Leaf and Ariya), it meets our needs.

I've got one too, still in its original packaging somewhere, I think. Like you, I've always used a better, faster Level 2 charger at home, so the Nissan one has never seen the light of day. I can't imagine lugging that brick around. It's waaaaay too heavy and bulky. For road trips, I rely on public fast chargers or my portable Level 2 charger, which is way more compact. I agree, it's kind of a relic at this point, and I wouldn't be surprised if Nissan ditches it altogether. I'm curious too if anyone actually uses it regularly or maybe for emergencies? But even then, a smaller, more portable option seems more practical.

I took mine out of the car, plugged it into the 240v dryer outlet installed in my garage and use it all the time. Why pay tons of dollars to have a charger installed at home when all you need is the EVSE supplied with the car and a very inexpensive 220v outlet installation?

I’ve got it tucked away in my trunk as a backup, but I can’t remember the last time I used it. For everyday charging, I’m all about the Level 2 at home or the fast chargers on the road. Feels like Nissan could probably ditch it and I’d never miss it.
