After only 16,000 miles, my tires are already worn down to the wear bars, pretty disappointing! I’m looking for new tire recommendations. I live in the desert and mostly drive on local roads, with little highway driving. Any suggestions for tires that can handle these conditions?

Ouch, that's definitely premature wear, even for desert conditions! Tire wear can be affected by a lot of things, like driving style, tire pressure, and alignment, but still, that seems really low. For desert driving, you'll want something that can handle the heat and dry conditions. All-season tires are probably your best bet, but look for ones with a higher treadwear rating for better longevity. Brands like Michelin, Continental, and Bridgestone often have good options for this. Since you're mostly on local roads, you probably don't need super high-performance tires. Talk to a reputable tire shop coz they can give you personalized recommendations based on your specific driving needs and the make/model of your Ariya. They might also be able to tell you if there was anything unusual that contributed to the rapid wear.

That’s a tough one! Driving in the desert is brutal on tires, the heat and sand basically have a snack on that tread. Like @eucamint said, you might want to look into tires made for light trucks if you’re after that extra toughness. Go for something with a solid sidewall and decent heat resistance. Also, don’t sleep on tire pressure, low PSI can chew through them super fast, especially in the heat. Make sure your alignment's checked too!
