Hey everyone, So, I’ve just found out that as a Nissan ARIYA owner in Massachusetts, I can’t take advantage of discounted electricity rates for charging during off-peak hours with National Grid. Other manufacturers seem to be part of the program, but Nissan isn’t on the list.

It’s a bit frustrating, especially since off-peak discounts can make a difference for owners trying to save on charging. I get that these things take time to sort out, but it feels like a missed opportunity for Nissan to have programs like this.

anyone else running into this issue with National Grid? or maybe with utilities in different states? Any workarounds for this? like using a specific charger or enrolling in another program?

You might want to check if there are other local programs or if using a smart charger with scheduled charging times could help.

Well, good news for fellow Ariya owners with National Grid! I can confirm that their ChargeSmart program offers a sweet discount on your electricity bill. I've got the Ariya, National Grid power, and a Chargepoint HomeFlex charger, and I'm already getting the benefits. Just shoot them an email, and they'll get you sorted.

Yeah, Nissan seems to be missing out on some utility partnerships that other brands have. You might want to contact National Grid directly and see if they have a general off-peak EV rate instead of a manufacturer-specific one. Some utilities also allow you to apply for rebates based on charger type rather than the car brand.
