Just wanted to share my experience with my Ariya! Coming from a manual gas car, I used to put it in neutral+handbrake at stoplights. The Ariya's electric drivetrain eliminates the need for a neutral position. The convenient brake hold feature keeps the car stopped with a simple button press, which is much easier on my foot!

Yes, it just comes right off when you step on the throttle. You can come to a complete stop without hold kicking in: you have to be assertive on the brake, but it releases right when you want it to. Unlike neutral, it keeps you in place on non-level pavement (but I would be careful on an actual hill).
