12V Cooler Without Killing Battery?

I’m thinking of hooking up a 12V cooler box in my Ariya, but I’m a little worried about draining the battery. I know leaving the car running with the 12V outlet on will kill the battery eventually, but what about pressing the start button without the brake?

Will that still drain the battery? or is there a better way to use the 12V outlet without risking it?

Ok, so when the car’s off, the front ports - USB and 12V - stay on, which can slowly drain the 12V battery since it's not that big. The car tries to top it up now and then from the traction battery, but if the 12V battery gets too low to trigger the safety interconnect, you're kinda out of luck. Even if you try turning the car on - brake pedal or not - it'll just shut itself off again after about half an hour if it's left in park. Unfortunately, there’s no solid way to keep it powered for longer, though a Dog Mode-like feature would totally fix that.

If the car is not in ready mode, the 12V battery will eventually discharge. To conserve battery power, the car will remain in sleep mode for a limited time.
