Greetings, all! I was among the first 6000 Leaf purchaser in the U.S., back in 2011, and I'm still happily driving my 13-year-old treasure around Los Angeles every day. I replaced the battery under warranty in 2017, and it's only llst two bars to date. So, although battered and showing its age, it remains a perfectly practical town car. Of course, my wife and I would love to get more range in a slightly larger car, so of course we have looked at the Ariya. If you have investigated that and other EVs out there, what do you recommend? Is the Ariya The One, or have you found a preferable option.

Honestly, I’d be hard pressed to recommend an Ariya. As a former Leaf and Tesla Model 3 owner, I would highly recommend a Tesla Model Y if you’re in the market right now. If you’re looking to wait a few years, the Rivian R2 may be a good option, if they can get their act together and are able to scale the R2.
 
So at msrp, I would agree. Aritas are on fire sale now in many places, which I think changes the equation a little. Locally there are some large battery eForce Ariyas in the 35K range new.

Apparently, no fire sale in NJ. Just built and priced one and an AWD with no options is close to 50K and range is only around 205 miles. No way would I ever entertain that when there are many other (better) options out there both in terms of price and range.

When electric cars just came out, we were on the fence just like everyone else. Since I had a BMW X5 and the I3 just came out they arranged so I could have a test drive for a week from a local dealer in Newport Beach, CA. I didn't buy the I3 though but made a jump to lease our first Leaf in 2015 for a couple of year, then bought a 2017 Leaf right after.

I propose Nissan should have arrangements for potential Ariya buyers out there to have it test right for a week or so then perhaps they would take a next step. I definitely would test drive one for a week, a short test drive for 20 minutes or so just doesn't cut it.

The sales are at the lots, not from Nissan directly. Dealers are selling off old inventory.
